Looking for a Black Owned Coffee Shop in Portland?
Café UNITED on Couch Street in Portland is a new favorite for us at Bridge City Photography. One of their motto’s that we love is “Where Cultures and Coffee Connect” and we fell in love with the shop immediately once we found them! Beau and I were searching around Portland for unique places to do our headshots at, and we very rarely plan this so we didn’t call ahead and ask each space if we could, we asked at arrival. After being turned down over and over ahead, exhausted, we found ourselves at Café UNITED. We ordered our delicious coffee and politely asked if we could do some headshots while we were there, and very much expected a no, once again. Instead, these two graciously said absolutely! They hyped us up the entire time we took over a little corner of their shop, and gave us so much amazing energy. We knew we had to ask if we could take some headshots for them too, and highlight their business from this point on. Not only do they have incredible coffee, late hours, and have the sweetest personalities - They also do events that directly aid in creating community in Portland such as art shows, open mic-nights, concerts, and more. We were so impressed with the service, community values, the owners themselves, and the beautiful decor and art around the shop (and again, the coffee is so good!)
